The children have a note in their homework jotters about making a personal project on plants and animals. The expectation is that they will make a wee book or fact file about plants and animals. Alternatively they may wish to make a Powerpoint presentation or type their book on computer. The school can provide a lined jotter and/or blank paper for this or you may wish to provide your own stationery. The fact file should have a front cover and pages/slides should be numbered. A list at the back should say where you found your facts (references). The children have free choice which plants and animals they find out about e.g. pets, dinosaurs, mythical beasts, house plants, tropical plants, your garden, but the project must contain facts about both.
Try to work on a page or slide a week and include some pictures. When the project is finished, practise reading it so that your child can talk about it and share their work in front of a group of children.
The project is due in on Monday 11th June. In the intervening weeks, starting next week, the children will still have a weekly spelling list and a times table to practise and be tested on in class.
