P4 blog 05.10.18

A very brief blog this week.

We spent this week finishing off our team stories, practising our story actions and composing a piece of clapping music to go with our story work. Next week we hope to add some percussion instruments to our performances as the finishing touch.

We filled up all our classroom walls with a selection of our work this term to make a bright and pleasant environment.

We all greatly enjoyed the open afternoon to showcase our new playground equipment and re-modelled garden, especially since the sun chose to shine.

Thank you to… and celebrations:

  1. A big thank you for all the lovely swimming pool designs. We have photocopied the colour ones and made a lovely wall display outside our classroom.
  2. Well done to Charley and Chloe who were our class Dojo points’ winners.
  3. Well done to Stephen who was our certificate winner for excellent listening skills
  4. Star homework awards, this week, went to Felix, Imaad, Layla and Angelika
  5. Times tables’ dojos went to Tyler N., Aidan, Charley, Aiden, Jan, Felix, James, Reece, Tyler S., Chloe, Jamie and Alex for doing well or improving on last week’s score.
  6. Well done to Kayla, Imaad, Aryan, Malak, Rudi and Steven who are all ready to move onto the next times table.

Reminders and up and coming news

No homework was issued this week as all the jotters have been collected in, so we take time to review what we have learned, enjoyed or would like to change.

P5 scary openers

P5 have continued their work on writing scary stories and we focused on the opening paragraph this week.

We spoke about “showing not telling”, and ways that we could make a reader aware that a character is scared, or a setting is scary, without actually using the word scared or scary!

We were very impressed with the standard of writing – especially after we compared them to our “cold” writing!

What do you think of our work?

P1 blog

Following our trip to the Hawthorn Allotments earlier this week we made Roast Beetroot and Apple Soup with some of the crops that we harvested. Most of the children tried some and the majority of them really enjoyed it.

The P1 and Nursery Pupils went on a trip to the lnverness Library on Thursday 5th October. They listened to a story called The Red Dread read by the author of the book, Tom Morgan-Jones. They had fun drawing pictures and making suggestions for pictures for Tom to draw.
