P4 Homework for return on Monday 12th November
- Times tables – I need to practise .
I can practise this by saying the answers, saying the full times table, writing it out or answering questions on it.
- Fireworks poem
I need to read this several times then have a go at learning it off-by-heart.
The learning and teaching focus for this term will be:
Numeracy and Maths– revising addition and subtraction strategies plus learning more about multiplication and division. Learning about money, time and shape.
Literacy and Language-differentiated reading groups, reading for information about Hallowe’en, The Gunpowder Plot and The First World War. Learning to use a dictionary and a thesaurus. Grammar will focus on adjectives, nouns and verbs. Writing will be about adding description to imaginative stories, writing reports and different styles of poetry.
Topic-mini topics on Hallowe’en, The Gunpowder Plot, World War 1, people in the community, enterprise and Christmas.
Health and Wellbeing-Mrs. Third will continue her activities about nutrition. P.E. will include ball skills, team games and dance.
Art-activities associated with Christmas crafts.
Music-the children may get lessons from a Kodaly tutor, who will focus on singing games.
RME-the focus will be on festivals and stories from The Old Testament.
Modern Languages-the children will be learning French vocabulary to describe themselves and some basic conversational phrases. They may also be introduced to British Sign Language (this is the second language the school has chosen to teach along with French but school staff have to receive training first)
- P4 will have 2 visits to Eden Court Cinema next week (Monday/Tuesday a.m.). The films will be used as a focus for literacy work in class.
- Parents night times have been issued.
