Around the World in a Day

We had a fantastic day travelling the world on Wednesday.

We really enjoyed learning and listening to lots of fascinating stories about Pakistan, Poland, Thailand, Malaysia and Spain.

A massive thank you to all of our volunteers!

Around the World in a Day

Next week we will be learning about International Mother Tongue Day and enjoying the wonderful diversity of cultures and languages in our school.

On Wednesday 13th February we will be hosting volunteers from Malaysia, Poland, Spain, Pakistan and Thailand who are going to take us on a journey around the world delivering their workshops to our school community. Do not forget to wear your traditional dress on that day!

As your homework, have a discussion with someone who speaks the same language as you about your country and what it is famous for, draw a picture or make a flag and bring them to school.

Central Primary School is going to take part in the Big Battery Hunt which is a nationwide battery recycling initiative funded by Duracell.

The children are encouraged to think about importance of recycling, and then challenged to collect as many used batteries as they can.

The pupils  will receive small cardboard collection boxes so that they can collect their used batteries.

By helping us to recycle as many batteries as possible the school could win:

  • A 2-night class trip to the sustainability centre
  • A 3-year subscription to MyMaths worth £1,000
  • £2000 worth of school equipment vouchers
  • iPads
  • Certificates and trophies

The competition will close on Monday 3rd June so make sure you bring your batteries before 3rd of May.
