P1-P4 Literacy event

On Monday 10th June the P1- P4 pupils took part in their final 2019 National Literacy Event. The first part was spent in the school garden: reading books, drawing pictures on stones, bugs hunting and making chalk and crayon rubbings of various textures in the garden. Then we all enjoyed a beautiful afternoon in the sun during a trip to Whin park. On arrival at the park the pupils were so excited they went off to explore the park play equipment. After our packed lunches, the P2-4 pupils were issued with their 3rd Literacy Book. Many pupils took the time to look through them, while some read to their teddies and others preferred taking advantage of the time at the park by continuing to explore the park climbing frame and other park equipment. Many pupils enjoyed an ice-cream from the Whin Park shop…an ideal day for such a refreshment! Here are a few snaps of the day.

P1 health and hygiene session

P1 have been learning about Health and Hygiene and the importance of cleaning their hands correctly. Amelie’s Mum joined us one afternoon recently and demonstrated, with special gel and an ultra violet light machine how we have germs on our hands. We all had a go at cleaning our hands thoroughly after she demonstrated the recommended way to clean them properly. Then we used the gel and ultra violet light machine again to see if any germs were still visable and guess what???… unfortunately most of us still had germs on our hands!! It just goes to show you how easily germs can be spread if we think our hands are cleaned thoroughly after washing – but sometimes they aren’t. Pupils learned that we all need to be extra vigilant with our hand cleaning to help prevent the spread of germs. See some photos of our session.

So far we have participated in athletics, badminton, football and basketball. Here are a few pupils taking part in the athletics during the first week. Parents are invited to the Showcase session on Thursday 27th June at the Inverness Sports Centre.
