Friday Update

Happy Friday everybody, the start to December has been quite cold. We have enjoyed seeing the children so happy in their cosy winter hats and gloves.

Covid 19

Thank you for your continued support of the school in minimising the risk of spreading infection by wearing masks in the playground. We appreciate your ongoing help with this matter.

I am absolutely delighted to inform you that Mrs Guzowski was appointed permanently as Depute Head Teacher to our school.

Our other vacancies are now filled as follows:

Early Years Practitioner – Miss Mackintosh,

Clerical Assistant – Miss Harrison

Lunchtime and Playground Supervisor, Ms Hirst

Children Services Worker – Miss Henry.

We hope they will be able to start with us as soon as possible once their disclosures come through.

Central Two Centuries

As part of our project we are in the middle of planning a Covid friendly end of term installation in partnership with Eden Court. All going well, this will take place on Tuesday 21st December starting at around 6 o’clock.

Please see the attached log book entry from 78 years ago. A member of the Polish Youth Service visited the school, gave a talk, sang Polish national songs and showed the pupils traditional dances. Apparently the children really enjoyed it.

Twelve Days of Christmas Food Drive

This week Primary 4 were discussing advent and came up with the idea of a reverse advent calendar. This idea was taken to the rest of the children and has become the Central School Twelve Days of Christmas Food Bank Drive. We are working in partnership with the Salvation Army to receive donations of food for people in need over the next twelve school days. All donations will be gladly received from Monday the 6th of December to Tuesday 21st of December.

School Home Partnership Learning

As part of our ongoing improvement journey, the Leadership Team looked at some samples of jotters this week and noted a marked improvement in handwriting, which we are very pleased about. We thank parents for supporting their children with handwriting.

Attached are some photos of learning from Seesaw this week.

Have a lovely restful weekend,

Mrs Fraser
