Happy Friday everyone!
We have had a really positive week at Central. The children are mostly settled into their new daily routines.
This year the team will be using many Co-operative Learning strategies and structures to nurture positive relationships across classes. Our team are also making sure that children in composite classes have opportunities to mix together with the rest of their stage.
We are delighted to welcome some new families into our school community.
The team are sending home welcome letters and overviews of learning for this term. Please check google classroom for information regarding your child’s learning.
Kidical Mass Saturday 03/09 at 1.30pm
‘Kidical Mass North’ is the Inverness arm of the global ‘Kidical Mass’ initiative, the motto for which is ‘Space for the Next Generation’. The idea is that as many children as possible take to the streets safely on bikes, trikes, adapted cycles, wheelchairs or any other means of active travel, to powerfully communicate the need for change. Although primary-school pupils should attend with an accompanying adult, there are also numerous marshals to secure the route.
Parents Night
We will continue to use Google Meets for Parents’ Night. The parents’ night will take place on Tuesday 27th September from 3.30 to 5.30 and Thursday, 29th September 6pm to 8pm.
In service days
A reminder that Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th September are In-Service Days and pupils do not attend school for those days.
The next Virtual Pines Session with Carrie Watts from Thriving Families and Alison Footitt from the National Autistic Society is on Thursday 15th September 2022 10.30 am to 12 noon. The session is open to parent/Carers and professionals in the Highland area. Parents & Carers to book Click Here
School Improvement Plan and Standards and Quality Report
This year we are pleased to begin a three year school improvement plan. This is a wee change from previous years where the School Improvement Plan was written for one year.
I would like to invite all parents to an informal online session with myself and Mrs Guzowski on Thursday September 8th from 6pm to 7pm, where we will share the Improvement Plan and Standards and Quality Report with you.
Assemblies
We had our first assembly of the year this afternoon. It was lovely to have everyone together to share news and positive stories.
This year we will be reinstating house groups and we look forward to the children working in their respective groups.
We also spoke about lunchtimes and how we will continue to work on improving the lunchtime experience.
We were excited to let everyone know that we are becoming a Unicef Rights Respecting School. Attached is a letter for your information.
We finished the afternoon with a moment of reflection and words from the original school prayer which have been adapted. This is only read out and there is no expectation for the children to say the words of reflection which we hope will be acceptable for all faiths.
Please come and speak to us if you have any concerns.
Give me clean hands, clean words and clean thoughts,
Help me to stand for the hard right against the easy wrong,
Help me to work hard and play fair,
Help me to be kind to others
Send me chances to do a little good every day,
Thank you.
