P1 blog post and thank you letters

The P1 pupils were very grateful for the volunteers who gave up their time to take vehicles to the Transport Morning on Wednesday 10th October 2018. The pupils really appreciated the helpfulness of the Caledonian Canal personnel, who organised the Lord of the Glen ship to be going through the Caledonian Canal, Muirton Locks when they visited on Tuesday 2nd October. Here are copies of their Thank You letters. These will be delivered during the October holidays.

Transport Morning

The Transport Morning on Wednesday 10th October was a big success, with most of the pupils really enjoying the opportunity to get inside vehicles that they might not readily have access to on a day to day basis.  P.C. MacLean brought along a Police van and there was great excitement when pupils were experiencing the driving seat, passenger seat and the prisoner hold cell in the rear of the van.

How many pupils do you think you can get into a Vintage Hillman Minx estate car?  The total we got in was 21 of the infants! The horn on the A40 Farina Vintage car was worn out with all the hooting and all the staff needed ear plugs – along with our neighbours!

The Motor Bike and the push bike were enjoyed by many of the pupils, with quite a few of the infants having a go on the push bike.

The infants also really enjoyed getting on to the bicycles and tricycles  that they used to get to ride regularly in Nursery.

Many pupils asked the owners/drivers of the vehicles very relevant questions during the session so hopefully lots to talk about with parents or in class later.

It was a great morning of fun, new experiences and new learning opportunities and even the sun shone beautifully.

P7 Bake Sale

On Friday afteroon P7 held a Bake Sale during our Playground Grand Opening.

Thank you to the pupils, families and staff who baked lots of lovely treats for our sale.

There was a great turnout and the P7 pupils were super at selling and providing customer servic.

The pupils raised an amazing £295. Thank you for purchasing our yummy treats and for your support.

After hearing about our bake sale and fundraising ideas we have received 2 very generous donations over the weekend taking our total to £350!!

What a super start to our residential trip fundraising. Thank you all and well done P7.

“We did well organising the sale in a short space of time.”

“I enjoyed helping sell.”

“It was a very successful event and we are very grateful as the money will help towards the cost of our residential trip.”

Keep an eye out for more events throughout the year 🙂

P1 blog

Following our trip to the Hawthorn Allotments earlier this week we made Roast Beetroot and Apple Soup with some of the crops that we harvested. Most of the children tried some and the majority of them really enjoyed it.

The P1 and Nursery Pupils went on a trip to the lnverness Library on Thursday 5th October. They listened to a story called The Red Dread read by the author of the book, Tom Morgan-Jones. They had fun drawing pictures and making suggestions for pictures for Tom to draw.

P1 Caledonian Canal trip

The P1 pupils really enjoyed their trip to the Caledonian Canal and the Hawthorn Allotments on Tuesday 2nd October 2018. We asked for the possibility of a boat to be present for our visit to the Muirton Locks and we were delighted as we did not just get a boat….we were very privileged as we got the Lord of the Glens. We had the opportunity to see this massive form of transport travelling through the locks. It was just managing to fit into each lock….Wow! What a size! Some of the P1 pupils even assisted this beautiful boat gain access out of the top lock by opening and closing the top lock gates.

We then had our snack at the Hawthorn Allotments before going to harvest some of Mr and Mrs McMillan’s fruit and vegetables from their allotment. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves digging for potatoes and beetroot. We also harvested other vegetables to add to our soup….such as carrots and onions. A couple of marrow, a cabbage and lots of raspberries were picked….with the raspberries quickly eaten and enjoyed!!

For the adults who came on the trip and any other P1 adults who would like to join us about 11 a.m. on Friday we will be tasting some beetroot and apple soup which we made using some of the crops from the allotment.

PJ Day Friday 12th October

On the last day of school we would like to have a Pyjama Day/ Dress Down in the school.

A suggested £1 donation for participating in the PJ day  will go towards the P7 residential trip.

We are very grateful for your continued support.

Please help us spread the word.

Thank you.
